Raw gum in the form of tears from is shipped to customers around the world as a natural product.
Gums contain a significant amount of foreign materials which must be removed prior to use.
The gum is processed to remove the foreign matter and to reduce the variability in quality.
The types of gum processing are discussed with the advantages and disadvantages of each |
- Removed by screening the raw gum tears. The gum is then pulverized with hammer or roller mills and sifted again.
To be fine and free of any level of impurities, the gum is sieved to a uniform particle size
- No heat treatment and therefore the highest possible functionality, gum cannot be adulterated with starch, sugar..etc.
Gum can be adulterated with other gums. High variability in quality acrossnlot contains high foreign matter. high micro
, high variable moisture, slows in-process dissolution.
- This is the same as kibbled gum but is milled to a fine powder. It is more uniform than kibbled and rapid dissolution. No functionality loss from heat treatment.
- Gum can be adulterated with other gums, gum can adulterated with starch, sugar .. Etc
